Protective, penetrating oil sealer for hardwood flooring
Bioshield Hard Oil is a plant-based product made of all natural oils that creates a water-resistant barrier. This is a penetrating sealer and does not produce a coating on the surface like a polyurethane or lacquer finish.
The water resistance can be further enhanced by buffing with a standard floor buffing machine using a white or red pad. Burnishing with 250-350 grit alum oxide sandpaper can also be used on furniture or other millwork to improve moisture resistance.
Hard Oil dries clear to amber and beautifully enhances the look of wood. It is recommended for high-moisture and high-traffic areas such as baths and kitchens, and is suitable for both hardwood and softwood floors (1-2 coats). Read instructions carefully.
Over time this linseed-based product cures very hard and provides excellent moisture resistance. Bioshield Hard Oil is similar to AFM Naturals Clear Penetrating Oil.

The oil should be applied in a thin, even coat, and we recommend two-three coats. After the oil has been applied, any excess must be wiped from the surface after approximately 15-20 minutes with a soft, cotton cloth. After allowing the final coat of Bioshield Hard Oil#9-dry for at least 24 hours, we recommend a finishing coat of our Floor Hardwax #32, or Wax Finish #39. Drying times will vary due-application method, surface porosity, and climate.
Surface or Product Preparation
Surface should be dry, absorbent and free from contaminants such as oil, grease, wax, and nicotine. The moisture content for hardwoods should be 12 percent or less and for softwoods it should be 18 percent or less. Very resinous woods such as teak should be cleaned with BioShield Citrus Thinner, and other exotic woods should be wiped with an alcohol thinner (Ethanol). This oil should NOT be thinned.
