If you are looking for an eco-friendly, non-toxic and hypoallergenic 100% wool carpet or area rug to decorate your home, Pure Life is one of the best all-natural options. Pure Life is a collection of beautiful and highly fashionable natural fiber rugs and broadloom carpets that are top-quality and certified. Sourced in India and distributed in the US for 50+ years.
Purity and Safety are the #1 Priority. Pure Life contains no toxic dyes, no permethrins (insecticides), no stain guards (like Scotchgard), no synthetic latex adhesive, no polyester backings, and no antimicrobials (biocides or fungicides). Most synthetic carpets contain some 44 hazardous chemicals according to the Healthy Building Network. Don’t be fooled; most of these carpets are made of nylon, polyester, or PET may call themselves green and sustainable, yet they are all derived from petroleum-based chemicals.
Nothing beats mother nature. Pure Life is handmade in India from all-natural and biodegradable ingredients: 100% wool, all-natural adhesive, natural dyes that are Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified, and 100% skin safe.
What about the dyes? The natural dyes are made from herbs, fruits, teas, clays, and other natural materials. Unlike chemical-based dyes or low-impact dyes, Pure Life contains no heavy metals, no azo-dyes, or aryl amines which are known carcinogens. The GOTS certification, which has become the gold standard for organic textiles, doesn’t just focus on the dye but also on the cradle-to-grave process as well as the environmental and social impacts.
Animal friendly? Pure LIfe’s first rule is “Do no harm.” Their wool is sourced only from suppliers that are 100% humane in their treatment of animals.
Good for the planet? You bet. Wool is a renewable resource like bamboo, hardwood, linoleum, and cork. Every year the sheep produce wool with virtually no waste or negative impact on the environment. Once PureLife is discarded it decomposes in 1-5 years…495 years sooner than its synthetic counterparts.
But does it last? Wool carpet has been around much longer than synthetic and is still prized for its softness and because it maintains its cush and appearance. Usually, wool carpet outlasts synthetic fibers three times to one and lasts for many generations if properly cared for.
Never heard of Pure Life? Pure Life is a new collection of 100% natural carpets and area rugs hand-loomed in India with 22 fashion-forward styles. The parent company is Kaleen which has been manufacturing high-end area rugs for more than 50 years. Since 1997 Kaleen has been distributing rugs and broadloom carpets inside the US. Kaleen currently operates a 250,000 square foot distribution center located in Dalton, GA. Their facility is not only eco-friendly and solar-powered but also ISO 9000 & SA8000 certified which assures the highest level of quality in service and manufacturing.
Pure Life carpet and area rugs check all the boxes for safety, beauty, and sustainability. In terms of safety, they are the same as Earth Weave and Nature’s Carpet (dark green) products. However, their fashionable designs are far more interesting and modern.
Hand-woven rugs have been around for centuries and satisfy the test of time. Just look at your grandmother’s hundred-year-old oriental rug that is still going strong. Woven rugs are much preferred to tufted and will not disappoint. Excluding the flat weave styles which are intentionally shorter, most collections are thicker and denser and have more wool than the competition. While there are no hazardous ingredients used in these rugs or carpets, there will be a slight wool odor when new which will dissipate over time.

As with all quality natural-fiber carpets, vacuuming with a suction-only vacuum cleaner is recommended. Beater-bar vacuum cleaners may damage the surface pile of this product. Proper vacuuming on a regular basis will increase performance. Use only wool approved cleaners for removing stains. Do not vigorously rub the affected area. Lightly blot area instead.
