Your unique experiences and feedback have guided our mission to provide healthy, environmentally friendly products for over 30 years. This month, we honor and celebrate you, our MCS customers, by offering special discounts and re-committing ourselves to serving your needs.
When we began our family business in 1991, very few truly “green” and chemical-free options were on the market. And many of the ones that were certified as eco-friendly were still problematic. Thankfully, things have changed in the past 30 years; there are many more products available that are cleaner and safer for everyone, and less likely to trigger negative reactions. We expect this trend to continue.
As a company, we understand that we aren't doctors or scientists. However, we pride ourselves on doing what nobody else does: sourcing and selling products that have consistently proven safe and effective for our MCS community.
We know that our customers living with MCS are the first indicators of a problematic product. You feel the effects of dangerous ingredients long before others are aware, much like the canaries in the coal mine. We have found solutions for most people, and, like a green rescue team, we are here to help you escape the toxic coalmine of harmful materials.
How Does Green Building Supply Help?
Like you, we’ve learned the hard way, that trusting a green label doesn’t guarantee it will be safe. Instead, we do our research and field-test all products ourselves, taking a hands-on approach with our products. We use ourselves as the testers, never relying solely on laboratory results.
And we don’t just stop there. We have strong relationships with our vendors, which ensures honest communication on all products. Sometimes manufacturers change their ingredients, especially due to supply-chain issues. While we trust our vendors to keep us informed, we constantly review their ingredients to ensure they continue to meet our high standards.
Over the years, we’ve removed products from our inventory and found innovative solutions when they are no longer up to our standards. For example, when we discovered QuietWalk Underlayment began including pesticides, we convinced the manufacturer to continue making a version without pesticides, just for us, and just for you.
We believe in transparency and never push a product that isn't right for you. Our knowledgeable team is happy to make recommendations, but we aren’t ever satisfied with just telling customers what works for us.
Every customer is vastly different and experiences chemical sensitivities in unique ways. That’s why we’re comfortable admitting that our recommendations can’t be 100% perfect for everyone. To counter that, we gladly offer samples of almost every product. We highly encourage testing them yourself! There’s no better way to determine if a product will look good, perform well or accommodate each individual’s needs, as sensitivity is entirely subjective. Ultimately, deciding if a product is safe for you is up to you.

Our mission is to help people create beautiful, healthier homes by delivering high performance, eco-friendly products we have personally tested. We hear your concerns and strive to address them by recommending alternative products when necessary. In some cases, we've even developed our own products when nothing else was acceptable, like our Blissfully Clean non-toxic cleaner.
Over the years, we've received thousands of positive customer reviews, reinforcing our commitment to testing, sourcing, and selling healthy, environmentally friendly products. That lets us know that our methods work.
We understand how discouraging it can be to try product after product that claims to be “green,” only to discover that it’s as bad as all the other chemical products. You have enough to deal with, so we want to take the burden off your shoulders. You deserve a helping hand.
